"DEMISE"

About

How did I come up with the concept for DEMISE?

Demise first started out as a short story I wrote in 8th grade. Yes, 8th grade. It was a part of my application for an arts highschool I so desperately wanted to get into. It was at a time where all I wanted to write was gory, depressing, grotesque scenes. I had also just watched Fight Club for the first time and was obsessed with its psychological thriller elements. I wanted to write something that truly expressed my strange paranoias, the fears I have that I know aren't actually true, but they freak me out so much that I manipulate myself into believing them. I also wanted to explore my own loneliness. I made the main character of the story somewhat of a self-insert of myself. She's a morgue worker in a future where people stop dying, and she has to deal with both her failing social life, disappearing job stabiliyu, and abnormal anxiety issues. Unfortunately for me, I didn't get into that art school, but I still really liked the idea I had for this story, and knew I would still use it for something.

This is a demo of a CSS stylesheet for a hand-coded customizable webcomic archive/site, with a sidebar and general aesthetic similar to Hiveworks and other popular comic website styles.
